NEW YORK, September 11, 2008 — Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC) today
announced that it has appointed Erick Gustafson as Director of Government Relations.
Mr. Gustafson’s appointment is effective September 29, 2008. He will report directly to
Peter J. Beshar, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and will be based in
Washington, D.C.
“We are delighted to bring a talented individual like Erick to MMC,” said MMC President and
CEO Brian Duperreault. “As the company’s first Director of Government Relations, Erick will
lead the development and implementation of MMC’s government relations agenda. He will
work closely with the company's senior management on a broad range of legislative,
regulatory and public policy issues. One of Erick’s major priorities will be to develop strong
relationships for MMC with key members of Congress, government agencies and state
regulators. ”
Mr. Gustafson said, “This is an exceptional opportunity to introduce MMC’s roster of risk
management and consulting capabilities to policymakers in Washington and across the
country. The business environment in which MMC companies operate is a constantly
evolving one; having a dialogue with those who shape legislative agendas is important to the
company’s future growth. I am honored to have the opportunity to join MMC.”
Mr. Gustafson was most recently Senior Vice President of Legislative and Political Affairs at
